How To Mod Undertale
How to MOD Undertale! From Music to Sprites! The Complete Guide and ToC!
Heya guys, Science here with a tutorial on how to mod Undertale in such a way as [My Snowdin at Night Mod] which I still plan to continue, I'm just too lazy at the moment to do so.
Undertale Mod 1.10.2/1.8.9 is a really awesome mod that adds tons of Undertale characters into your Minecraft game. Not only that, but it comes with it’s own custom map for you to play through. This mod adds Papyrus, Sans, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Mettaton EX, Toriel, Napstablook, Temmie, and of course, Flowey to your Minecraft.
What you need:
General PC Knowledge
Many kids and young teens will recognize themselves in one of the three main characters of the film, while the older audience will still be able to associate with the characters and remember (perhaps even re-live) treasured first love moments from their own lives. The performance of in the role of Latimer’s love interest is equally good, even if one has to take into account that her role was somewhat less demanding than those of the male cast. The emphasis of her character in the film is on her physical beauty and innocent appeal. Tracy Hyde as Melody Perkins in MelodyThe musical score of Melody intermixes with the visual and dramatic elements of the film. The performances of all three are natural and believeable.

Translatale (Download provided)
Paint.net (Download provided and recommended)
UTFonts (A hard part of the tutorial made easy with the download provided here)
Multiple copies of Data.win JUST TO BE SAFE. If you do NOT make copies of Undertale/data.win and it gets corrupted, I will NOT be held responsible.
Alright! First things first, we will need to locate Undertale.exe on Windows! If you are on mac, I am sorry as I am unable to help ya. If you bought the game on steam, goto C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Undertale
After you've found it, we right click on it and press extract OR we can drag the exe to our extractor program icon. Once you have it extracted, a folder will appear named Undertale! For convenience, move it to your Desktop.
Once in, you want to make backups/copies of the file named data.win cuz if ya game gets corrupted, you'll have to get a new copy. It is also required to delete steam_api.dll in order for our mods to work.
Also make sure you download the files I have provided. That's translatale, UTFonts, and Paint.net. Translatale is NEEDED for modding Undertale. The UTFonts is so you can avoid downloading Gamemaker Studio. Trust me, If I hadn't included this, it would have been a pain. make sure to put UTFonts in your Undertale File or desktop. Paint.Net is needed, I.. think? It's the only paint program I use for modding as MSPaint does not work with the sprite pages. So yes, make sure ya get Paint.net, again, it's on the downloads above.
IT'S VERY IMPORTANT YOU GET THESE DOWNLOADED.
When you are done backin' up your files, unzip Translatale and run it!
Once it's up and runnin', locate tools and select dump images. It will ask you to find data.win, so all you gotta do is goto your desktop/UNDERTALE via file explorer and double click on it.
Next, it asks where do you want to keep these sprite pages, I recommend you put an empty folder into the Undertale folder for convenience but you can dump them into an empty folder on the desktop as well.
It works the same for the strings.txt, again, I recommend you put it in the UNDERTALE folder for convenience.
Now, navigate to the folder you dumped the sprite pages.
There you will find ALL the sprites found in Undertale including bullet attacks, test npcs, and sometimes just plain weird stuff. Whatcha wanna do is open a sprite page in paint.net. You do that by right clicking the sprite page and press Open with > Paint.net.
I am going to use sprite page 10 for example. Once you're in, you can use a pencil, paintbrush, anything you want on these sprites to edit them. For example:
Hahahaha, cool right!? Okay! Now you need to click Save As and save the picture as 10 as a PNG type file! Press okay to everything.
Time for the strings.txt!
Modding the strings.txt is actually very simple, open it in notepad, find the text you are looking for and edit it to your liking, save over it.
Finale! Time for the last part! Okay, now ya need to go back to translatale and select Glyph/project repack!
Now, it will give ya a warning to back up your files which I do recommend. It will also tell you to download GameMaker:Studio.
IGNORE THAT AND PRESS NEXT!
Now, it will ask you to download some fonts before you can move on. You need to download them for the mods to work so, download them and install them. If you dont know how to install them, navigate to downloads, navigate to the .ttf file and double click it. A window will pop up and at the top, press install. Got it? Unfortunatly, I only have 4G on the phone and I cant download a font on my PC for example. Once that's done, you will be asked to download the UTFonts Gamemaker project, don't download that as it is already finished and done for ya.
Press next again and the 'Path Config' will ask you to navigate and select these files. If you had put them all in the Undertale folder, this will be so much easier! Find all of them and press import!
Now, a prompt asking you to Save As will ask you where to save it and what to name it. Name it 'data' and save it directly into your Undertale Folder. I hope you made backups just in case! There will be a bunch of code popping out, but don't worry that's just the program doin' its thing.
Just wait a moment and viola! You have modded Undertale! Let's see if it worked for us!
Run Undertale via the .exe in the Undertale Folder.
SUCCESS B*TCHES, ehm, excuse me.. Haha! Success my friends! Now, enjoy modding your game how ever you'd like! Also, always make sure to have a back up ready and raring to go in case something goes wrong okay?
Tip: If you are going to mod an overworld sprite, make sure you do it to all of them or else it will be flashing with the old sprite and the new sprite when they do certain movements.
As always guys, stay sciency!
